PBI UMY Hosts National Workshop on “Teachers’ Growth Mindset”

English Education Program at the Faculty of Language Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (PBI UMY), successfully organized a National Workshop titled “Teachers’ Growth Mindset to Confront Educational Challenges” on Monday, January 15, 2024.

The event drew the participation of school principals, teachers from Primary and Secondary Education, the English Teachers Association, Language Education Lecturers from Yogyakarta and beyond, as well as general participants from various provinces in Indonesia, including Central Maluku, West Kalimantan, West Java, among others.

The primary objective of the National Workshop was to provide a profound understanding of the significance of the Growth Mindset in addressing changes, fostering a positive learning environment, and shaping educators with a positive mindset.

Two keynote speakers, Prof. Drs. Suyanto, M.Ed., Ph.D. (Emeritus Professor at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta) and Dr. Dra Hermayawati, S.Pd., M.Pd (Lecturer at PBI UMY), were invited to delve into the concept of Growth Mindset as the key to confronting the challenges of modern education.

Sri Sudarsi, S.S., M.In.T., the Chairperson of the organizing committee, stated that the workshop was organized considering the dynamic changes in the educational landscape, experiencing significant disruptions.

Andi Wirantaka, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of the English Education Program at UMY, added that a crucial issue in today’s education world is the role of educators as a determinant factor in the success of the teaching-learning process.

In closing, Dean of the Faculty of Language Education UMY, Eko Purwanti, Ph.D., emphasized the Indonesian government’s goal to achieve “Indonesia Emas” by 2045, where Human Resources, especially educators with a pivotal role in enlightening the nation, become a critical issue.
