Yogyakarta, March 6, 2024 – One of the PBI UMY students from the class of 2020 managed to graduate without having to do a thesis as one of the requirements for graduation from the UMY campus. Galang Hidayat Jati, managed to graduate by taking 3 years 4 months 22 days of study time with his brilliant achievements.

The achievement that made him an alumni without doing a thesis was from the Business Idea Competition organized by SEBI UMY in 2023. Starting from the Basic Reading and Writing and Entrepreneurship courses, Galang succeeded in developing a business idea in the form of a child-friendly edutainment platform that aims to increase motivation and early literacy skills called Storysight. The Storysight idea succeeded in bringing Galang to win 3rd place in the Business Idea Competition organized by SEBI UMY in 2023 and 1st place in the Business Pitching Competition 2023 in the Central Java and DIY regions. Not only that, Storysight was also nominated for the 2023 KMI Award and received funding in the 2023 P2MW program from the Directorate General of Diktiristek.

The idea and purpose of Storysight is expected by Galang as a developer to be able to help young children become more interested in literacy with the audio-visual appeal provided so as to increase the percentage of literacy in Indonesia. With this achievement, it is also hoped that students can also be motivated to develop their ideas and dare to take part in competitions that are held both internally and externally so that they can make themselves and PBI UMY and UMY proud.
