English Language Education Department Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (PBI UMY) recently did the second monitoring of internship programs of the Industrial World Business World (DUDI). The monitoring, which was carried out in early November 2022, was held offline at the location of PBI UMY partners. Previously, PBI UMY had carried out a monitoring process in early September 2022 online with students and partners.

In this activity, as many as 37 intern students were directly controlled at partner locations by field supervisors (DPL) who were also lecturers from PBI UMY, namely Arifah Mardiningrum, M.A., Evi Puspitasari, M.Hum., Gendroyono, M.Pd., and Puthut Ardianto, M.Pd.

Since the deployment carried out by PBI UMY at the end of August 2022, they have undergone an internship process for more than two months. The 37 students were distributed in several selected partners of PBI UMY, including Kampung Inggris Borobudur, LTC UMY, STTKD Language Center, English Café, CV. Davendra Edukasi Jaya (Discovery English), and PT. Gemilang Media Wisatama (Travelxism) and PT. Wesclic Indonesia Neotech.

In this second monitoring, one of the DPL, Arifah Mardiningrum, M.A. said that there was good development in the interns. Furthermore, Arifah said that students began to absorb to become professionals in the field where they did internships. Student progress in this second monitoring is considered good because there are positive scores in students after two months of the internship process.

Nevertheless, students who are still active students have difficulty actualizing themselves with internship professionalism and student obligations. For this reason, PBI UMY together with partners and DPL always provide full assistance and support to DUDI 2022 intern students.

Furthermore, this internship program is expected to be able to provide opportunities for PBI UMY students to get to know the world of work more closely. Not only that, according to the initial objectives of this program, the process of absorbing students into the world of work is also expected to increase.
