In this disruptive era, technology has been an important integral part of education. Therefore, it is important for teacher educators to keep up with this technological development. One of PBI UMY efforts to get its teaching staffs updated with the advance of educational technology, was conducting a workshop on designing online course materials. The workshop took place on Saturday, March 23 2019 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Ruang Sidang Dekanat.
The invited speaker was Dr. Bambang Riyanta, S.T., M.T. of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Riyanta had an extensive experience of conducting online learning courses that he shared during the workshop. Besides sharing his experience, he also talked about several practical steps in using UMY e-learning system. Several hands-on activities being talked about included gradebook set-up, material uploads, course settings and designing competence map. All participants were engaged in an active discussion with Dr. Riyanta.
Eko Purwanti, Ph.D., the event director mentioned that she hoped that all PBI UMY teaching staffs could share same visions in developing and utilizing e-learning after taking this workshop. She also further commented, “Hopefully, all teaching staffs can understand the urgency of e-learning in this Industry 4.0 era. More importantly, e-learning can be an integral part of learning culture among PBI UMY community”.
