Muhammad Ilham Azizi or usually called Aji, a student of batch 2016, was awarded as the 2^nd Runner-up in UMY Outstanding Students (Mahasiswa Berprestasi) selection on February 28, 2019. The competition was organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) to choose the most outstanding students of UMY.
Approximately 70 students of each faculty in UMY joined this competition. There were two steps in this competition. The first step was that the participants had to compose a scientific paper with the minimum of 15 pages along with completing other requirements. The last step was the Grand Finale which was held on February 28, 2019 at AR B Building. In the event, participants presented before the judges.
Aji’s scientific paper, entitled “The Implication of Debate Method to Increase Critical Thinking in Industrial 4.0 Era”, talked about how a debate method can regulate hoaxes and inaccurate information in this Industrial 4.0. His scientific paper focuses on improving critical thinking in society through debate. He also added, “Our education system teaches less about how to have a critical thinking”, so he hoped that debate could make Indonesian people be more critical about anything especially in hoaxes.
At grand finale, he succeeded in being awarded as the Second Runner-up. He also hoped to all students that “Be more active in many activities in campus, either academic activities or non-academic activities”.
